“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared us in advance to do.” — Ephesians 2:10

An Opportunity to Serve & Grow

Throughout the year, our teams of committed volunteers work together to support the church’s mission. Alongside our staff, and often behind the scenes, volunteers help the church provide a welcoming environment, create a worshipful Sunday morning experience, and present programs and events with impact. Thank you for prayerfully considering where God may be calling you to support Brookdale Christian Church as a volunteer. Our service opportunities include:

Worship Arts & Tech Ministry: This serving ministry is of course VITAL to all of our Worship Services! If God gave you talents to sing or play musical instruments, we need you to be a part of our Worship Music Team! Similarly, if you have technical skills in the field of Audio or Visual, then we need you also! We already have wonderful singers, musicians, and technical helpers making our weekly worship what it is, but all those folks could sure use the help … so that they might not have to utilize their many talents so frequently.

Prayer Group: As a church that desires to “pray without ceasing,” we regularly gather to pray over the needs of our church. Join us Sunday mornings at 10:00 am to pray blessings over our Sunday Worship. We also meet up Wednesday evenings, 6:30-7:30 pm in the Galatians Room, to lift up prayer requests from the congregation and others. In our Wednesday evening prayer gatherings, Elder Horace Preddie leads us starting with a devotional study based on scripture.

Children’s Ministry: This is a crucial foundation-stone of our church’s central mission! It takes place every Sunday while our Worship Services are happening. Led by Children’s Ministry Director Connie Oestreicher and other teachers and helpers, all children from kindergarten age up to 5th grade are taught basic biblical principles upon which to center their lives and help lead them to experience Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Right now, we really need more volunteers in this vital ministry, so that the current volunteers can be rotated to allow them to attend Worship Services and so that we might be able to include pre-K children.

Youth Ministry: Led by Amanda Pinales, our FORGE youth ministry picks up where the Children’s Ministry leaves off: serving young people from the 6th grade through high school, and reinforcing for them biblical foundations for life and bringing them to decisions for Christ. This ministry meets every Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the Youth Room in the White Building, and it could really use more adults to help out!

Greeters/Ushers Ministry: Overseen by Tamara O’Shea, these unsung heroes make our Sunday Worship Services work! And we really could use more volunteers so we can give some time off for these terrific folks that welcome all congregants who come into the church, who greet visitors and direct them to our Welcome Desk, and who stand ready to help in any way.

Hospitality Ministry: Our tireless volunteers help us welcome visitors each week with coffee, tea, juice, and bagels aat the end of our Worship Services so that everyone is able to connect with others. Led by Debbie Ventimiglia, this ministry arranges for the serving of food and beverages not only on Sundays, but also at special events. But like all our ministries, we really need more volunteers who can help out so that those helping in this ministry don’t have to do it every Sunday.

Evangelism Ministry: This is another central foundation-stone for Brookdale … and much needed! Spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ is a crucial part of any Christ-centered, Spirit-led, and Bible-based church; and our church needs to raise up evangelists and leaders to answer the call of the Great Commission. Our pastors and other leaders within the church, as well as teachers prominent in evangelism training work together to raise up leaders to develop ways and means to spread the Word!

Seniors Ministry: Overseen by Pastor Jim, this ministry provides fellowship opportunities for our senior members throughout the year, including special brunch and luncheon gatherings. We need volunteers to help in a variety of ways, including event setup and management.

Campus Care: Led by our Director of Facilities, John Andres, our church come together periodically to do seasonal clean-up and repair and enhancement projects. If you have special skills, the church could really use your help. Even if you just have a strong heart and back, your participation would be God-honoring!

Visitation and Care Ministry - Guided by Pastor Jim, our Elders, and Board of Deacons, this ministry seeks committed Christian volunteers to engage in all sorts of caring acts … including visiting folks in the hospital or under special circumstances and those confined to home; preparing food and /or delivering meals to our congregants in need; providing emergency transportation; and various other ways to bring comfort, both material and spiritual.
